Super Desk Calendar! 2.1 is the 1993 Edition of a FileMaker Pro 2.0 template that simulates one of those little “flippy” desk calendars. It prints out normal “box style” calendars (a pretty tricky feat in FileMaker!) and has a section for appointments as well as a section that can keep track of an account’s balance.
I originally created it several years ago because I wanted to know “how soon I could afford to buy something.” It does that pretty well, but has evolved into what has been described as a “slick calendar and appointment book” that “puts the new features of FileMaker Pro 2.0 to good use” and is “well worth the download time for interface ideas such as simulating dialog boxes.”
I’ve invested many, many hours of my time developing this template and would appreciate the $10 Shareware fee I am requesting. I also enjoy any and all observations you may have.
The file is password protected for the beginning user, but the password is revealed on the Help layout for those who want to dig in deeper.

Three months in 1993 have too many days in them to print a calendar that looks nice. I’m talking about those months that have one or more of the squares in the bottom left corner split so it has something like January 24th AND January 31 on that same square. To make the calendars print nicely, I had to omit four dates from the calendars. These are January 31, May 30, May 31 and October 31. This can be a big bummer if you put “Pay Rent” on January 31, because the printed January calendar will not have the 31st on it, thus no “Pay Rent” memo is not going to appear. Your landlord may not appreciate this.
IMPORTANT! Non-Apple LaserWriter Owners!
The scripts I have prepared for printing calendars restore a page setup used for Apple LaserWriters. If you do not have a LaserWriter, it will not restore the proper page setup (landscape orientation) and cut your calendars in half. You will need to update 12 of the scripts to print the calendars properly.
1. Open SuperDeskCalendar! 2.1
2. Select Page Setup... from the File menu
3. Choose the Landscape orientation (Horizontal)
4. Choose ScriptMaker™... from the Scripts menu
5. Scroll down and select Print January Calendar
6. Click the Edit button
7. Click OK
8. Choose Replace for the Page Setup option and click OK
9. Repeat steps 5-8 for the February through December Calendars
It is not necessary to update the Appointment scripts.
